Task Number Icon!
A recent update has changed the task total at the top of the screen to show all tasks for all time, not just that day's outstanding tasks. Tasks scheduled out by several weeks or months that cannot be addressed sooner than their due date, being included in this number is incredibly distracting.
I understand some institutions may prefer this, so is could a setting be created to determine which types of tasks are counted in this number for each school's environment.

Karen AdminThis update was made to clarify longstanding confusion caused by the quantity of task flags being incongruent with the quantity of results on the search page (flags displayed the quantity of 'Overdue' tasks, while the default search displayed 'Outstanding'). Please post your feedback and improvement suggestions to this change in the comments!

Dawn PustelnikI have definitely heard from constituents across campus who are NOT happy with this update. It would be nice to have a setting to allow for picking what types of tasks are included on the task flag - but we definitely don't need a flag for tasks that are not outstanding or do not need immediate action like an assignment task. A task flag with a number should be an alert for something requiring immediate action - having an alert for something that isn't due for months defeats the purpose.

Allison BakerDue to the volume of requests we receive through 25 Live it would be much easier for us to have the tsk number match our overdue tasks instead of outstanding tasks. This allows us to stay on top of current requests. The way it was before made more sense.

Megan BladowYes, in our environment, we also have tasks that are outstanding vs overdue. For example, I cannot schedule certain rooms until our course schedule is set for the semester, so for our fall rooms, I can't schedule them until April 1st, but my task number is including them and it's very annoying and makes it more difficult to notice when a new task requiring immediate attention is added. We also have users who will schedule to do tasks for later dates, because they don't want them to be done right away but don't want to forget. It's confusing that these are also included in the task flag number.

Pamela MasonAs far as I can think I can only see users wanting to know count of Overdue Tasks. I cannot see any reason why people would want a count of Outstanding Tasks since those are not urgent. We do change the due date on Tasks to future dates because that is when they can be reevaluated. With the number showing outstanding it is just going to cause people to ignore it and this makes it more likely that they will not look for new tasks that do need to be addressed. If there are individuals that want this to be Outstanding then I would like to see a system level setting that would be a default and then a user level setting that could be set differently for that individual.

Lauren KoonceI agree that users only want to see Overdue Tasks. I use this number to notify myself when something is due. Also this update, as the admin I cannot longer see who's approvals are still pending when their are multiple approvers on a location/etc. without going into the audit trail. It was helpful to be able to see who we were still awaiting approval from to be able to reach out when needed.
