Allow email template to override default signature

When using new (cool) email template, my default confirmation signature in 25live also remains.
I am hoping to use the email template INSTEAD of my default signature ( basic) at very specific times, not for the majority of my confirmations.
If I remove my default, I then have to manual choose a template each time. Not desired.
Am I missing a step?
